Survey on the Carrier Rete of Staphylococcus in Hospital Staff

Abstract
To investigate the carrier rate and antibiogram of staphylococcus isolated from the members of 77th Army Hospital staff, staphylococci were isolated from nasal cavity and throat from a total of 354 individuals including doctors, nurses, medical service man, laboratory technician and clerk during the periods from July, 1966 to January, 1967 and the following results were obtained.
1. The isolation rates of coagulase positive staphylococci from nasal cavity and throat were 67.7 and 59.97 respectively.

2. Considering the isolation rates of staphylococci from nasal cavity and throat of doctors and nurses in each department, surgical field was higher than internal medicine field and the laboratory occupied the highest carrier rate.

3. The most of the isolate coagulase positive staphylcocci were resistant against penicillin (93.90) and the resistant strains against tetracycline series were also found in considerably higher rates.
